Rangpur witnesses no Covid-19 case for 3rd consecutive day

     RANGPUR, March 14, 2022 (BSS) - Rangpur division witnessed no fresh

Covid-19 case for the third consecutive day as none was diagnosed positive
after testing 85 new samples at the zero positivity rate on Sunday.

     Earlier, no fresh Covid-19 case was diagnosed after testing 85 samples
on Saturday and 43 new samples on Friday in the division.  

     Health officials said the Covid-19 pandemic situation is improving
satisfactorily amid declining positivity rate and rising recovery rate of
patients almost during the last one month.  

     "The total number of Covid-19 cases remained steady at 64,107 with the
diagnosis of no new infected patient for the third consecutive day on Sunday
in the division," Divisional Director (Health) Dr. Abu Md. Zakirul Islam told
BSS today.

     The district-wise break up of total 64,107 patients include 14,956 of
Rangpur, 4,415 Panchagarh, 5,475 of Nilphamari, 3,281 of Lalmonirhat, 4,980
of Kurigram, 8,580 of Thakurgaon, 16,914 of Dinajpur and 5,506 of Gaibandha
in the division.  

     Meanwhile, the total number of recovered Covid-19 patients reached
62,583 with the healing of seven more infected people during the last 24
hours ending at 8 am today in Rangpur division.

     The average recovery rate of Covid-19 patients currently stands at 97.62
percent in Rangpur division.  

     The 62,583 recovered patients include 14,550 of Rangpur, 4,325 of
Panchagarh, 4,377 of Nilphamari, 3,197 of Lalmonirhat, 4,880 of Kurigram,
8,316 of Thakurgaon, 16,500 of Dinajpur and 5,438 of Gaibandha districts in
the division.  

     Since the beginning of the Covid-19 pandemic, a total of 3,39,980
collected samples were tested till Sunday, and of them, 64,107 were found
positive with an average positivity rate of 18.86 percent in the division.

     On the other hand, the total number of casualties remained steady at
1,283 in the division as no new death was reported during the last 24 hours
ending at 8 am today.      

     The district-wise break up of the 1,283 fatalities stands at 300 in
Rangpur, 84 in Panchagarh, 92 in Nilphamari, 74 in Lalmonirhat, 69 in
Kurigram, 259 in Thakurgaon, 340 in Dinajpur and 65 in Gaibandha districts of
the division.

     The average casualty rate currently stands at two percent in the
division.

    Among total 64,107 Covid-19 patients, 25 are undergoing treatments at
isolation units, including five patients at ICU and seven at High Dependency
Unit beds, after recovery of 62,583 patients and 1,283 deaths while 216 are
remaining in home isolation.

     "Meanwhile, the number of citizens who got the first dose of the Covid-
19 vaccine rose to 1,33,00,660 and among them, 90,82,637 got the second dose
and 4,79,672 got the booster dose of the jabs till Sunday in the division,"
Dr Islam added.
