One held over firearms recovery in Ctg port

  CHATTOGRAM, Feb 22, 2022 (BSS) - Chattogram Metropolitan Police (CMP)
arrested an income tax employee over the recovery of two foreign-made pistols
and 60 rounds of ammunition here.

  Taking approval from tax commissioner, a team of Doublemooring thana police
arrested tax office employee Mozumdar Kamrul Hasan from Halishahor last
night.

   Earlier, customs office filed a case with Bandar thana over the arms
recovery.

  On secret information, officials of Chattogram Customs House (CCH) Customs
have recovered two foreign-made pistols and 60 rounds of ammunition that came
from Italy with the consignment of household goods.

  Two more toy pistols were also recovered from the consignment. Chattogram
Customs sources said Rajib Barua, a Bangladeshi expatriate, sent the
consignment from Rome, Italy to the one Kamrul Hasan of CGS Colony in the
city.

  Customs sources said that the consignment contained various household items
including drill machine, glass, soap, chocolate, knife, frying pan, lotion,
ladies' bag, handbag, iron and multi-plug.

  "The shipment was physically examined on the basis of secret information
and the weapons were recovered in a specially hidden condition," he added.
