GAIBANDHA, Feb 3, 2022 (BSS) - The construction work of one vent sluice
gate has begun at Komornoi area, an outskirts of the district town amid much
enthusiasm to the locals.
 
     Local Government Engineering Department (LGED) is constructing the
sluice gate at the cost of Taka one crore under the beautification work
project of Ghagot Lake.
 
     On Wednesday, Whip of the Jatiya Sangsad and local lawmaker Mahabub Ara
Begum Gini formally inaugurated the work at Komornoi area as the chief guest.
 
     Speaking on the occasion, whip Gini said the government led by Prime
Minister Sheikh Hasina has been implementing various development works
including infrastructural ones considering the interest and welfare of the
countrymen. She also urged the authorities concerned to be more serious and
careful to do the work timely and properly.
 
     Executive engineer of LGED Sabiul Islam, senior assistant engineer Abul
Kalam Azad, mayor of Gaibandha Municipality Md. Matlubour Rahman, Sadar
upazila engineer of LGED Sultan Mahmud, political leaders including media men
were present on the occasion.
 
     Executive engineer Sabiul Islam said with the construction of the sluice
gate there it would be possible to harvest the rainwater during the monsoon
and remove wastewater from the lake as well.
