Stocks witness up on large-cap vibe

DHAKA, August 14, 2022 (BSS) - Stocks today witnessed upward trend as major
indices of both Dhaka and Chittagong Stock Exchanges were found rising with
higher activities of some large-cap securities.

DSEX, the prime index of the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE), closed the day with
26.47 points up at 6,175.24. Two other indices also edged higher. The DS30
index, comprising blue chips, gained 4.91 points to finish at 2,199.30 and
the DSE Shariah Index advanced 5.22 points to close at 1,350.93.

At DSE, out of the day's 380 securities, prices of 168 securities closed
higher against 82 losing issues.

The day's trade value at the DSE increased to Taka 6,444.53 million from
Thursday's Taka 5,837.70 million and the daily trade also rose to 16.71 crore
share from 16.03 crore of the previous session.

The major gaining issues were Sonargaon, MHSML, UNIONCAP, KAY&QUE and
TAMIJTEX while the major losing companies were Wata Chemical, SALAMCRST,
PADMA Life, LHBL and GHCL.
 
Beximco topped the turnover list followed by Sonali Paper, Fortune, Malek
Spinning and Intraco.
 
The Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) closed the day of the week with an upward
trend with its major CASPI 0.36 point up at 1,325.81.

 At the CSE, 263 issues were traded. Of those, 102 closed higher and 68
closed lower when 56.60 lakh shares worth Taka 15.87 crore changed hands.
