Incentives being distributed to 7,165 farmers in Nageshwari upazila

 

RANGPUR, Nov 16, 2022 (BSS) - The government through the Department of
Agricultural Extension (DAE) launched distribution of agri-incentives to
7,165 small and marginal farmers of Nageshwari upazila in Kurigram on
Tuesday.
 
Nageshwari Upazila Agriculture Office launched distribution of the incentives
in terms of seeds and fertilisers among beneficiary farmers in a function
held at the upazila parishad premises to assist them in cultivating winter
crops during the current Rabi season.
 
Mostafa Zaman, Chairman of Nageshwari Upazila Parishad, inaugurated
distribution of the incentives among farmers as the chief guest in the
function with Upazila Agriculture Officer Agriculturist Md. Shahriar Hossain
in the chair.
 
Nageswari Upazila Nirbahi Officer Farzana Jahan, Upazila Vice-chairman Amina
Begum and Nageswari Municipality Mayor Mohammad Hossain Faku attended the
function as special guests.
 
Upazila level government officials, chairmen of different union parishads,
sub-assistant agriculture officers and beneficiary farmers were present.
 
Under the program, 750 farmers of the upazila will get two-kg of maize seeds
each, 1,700 small and marginal farmers will get 20-kg of wheat seeds each, 70
farmers will get one-kg of mustard seeds each and 70 farmers will get one-kg
of sunflower seeds each.
 
One-hundred farmers will get 10-kg of groundnut seeds each and 25 farmers
will get one-kg of onion seeds each.

Besides, 100 farmers will get 5-kg of mung-bean seeds each, 30 farmers will
get 8-kg Khesari and 50 farmers will get 5-kg of lentil seeds each.
 
In addition to this, each of the beneficiary 7,165 farmers of the upazila
will receive 10-kg of Muriate of Potash and 10-kg to 20-kg of Di-ammonium
Phosphate fertilisers free of cost.
 
The chief guest urged farmers to make best use of the government incentives
in farming crops during this Rabi season to increase crop production for
ensuring food security amid the global crises caused by the Russia-Ukraine
War and Covid-19 pandemic.
