DHAKA, Sept 10, 2026 (BSS) – Rear Admiral Md Moinul Hasan today assumed office as the Director General (DG) of Bangladesh Coast Guard (BCG).
Coast Guard Media Officer Lieutenant Commander Sabbir Alam Sujon confirmed the development this evening.
The new BCG DG formally took over the charge from outgoing DG Rear Admiral Md Ziaul Haque at a ceremony held at the BCG Headquarters here. The newly appointed DG signed the charge-taking documents to formally assume the office.
Senior Coast Guard officers and other officials attended the ceremony.
Rear Admiral Moinul Hasan joined the Bangladesh Navy on July 1, 1989 and was commissioned in the Executive Branch on January 1, 1992.
During his distinguished career, he served in various important command, staff and leadership positions.
He is a graduate of the Defence Services Command and Staff College (DSCSC), Mirpur; National Defence College (NDC), Mirpur; and Defence Services Staff College, Wellington, India.
He also completed the Naval Command Course at the US Naval War College, Rhode Island, in 2017.
He obtained an MSc in Defence Studies from the National University, Bangladesh, and an MSc in Strategic Studies from a university in Tamil Nadu, India.
He also completed the Senior Staff Course at the Bangladesh Public Administration Training Centre and is pursuing a PhD at Bangladesh University of Professionals.
During his naval career, he served as Commander Chattogram Naval Area (COMCHIT), Commander Bangladesh Naval Fleet (COMBAN), the first Commandant of Naval Training and Doctrine Command (NATDOC), and Commander Naval Aviation (COMNAV).
He commanded a corvette, two offshore patrol vessels, three medium and small fast attack crafts, and a missile boat. He also served in various key staff positions at Naval Headquarters and as Deputy Director General of the Bangladesh Coast Guard.
At the international level, he served as a military observer with the United Nations Operation in Côte d'Ivoire (UNOCI) in 2007-2008 and represented the Bangladesh Navy at various international military events.
In recognition of his professional contributions, he received the Navy Medal (NBP), Bishishto Seva Padak (BSP) and Bangladesh Coast Guard Medal (BCGM).
