DHAKA, Jan 15, 2026 (BSS)- Bangladesh Press Institute (PIB) today kicked off a two-day workshop focusing on the journalism during election.
Reporters working in different news houses are taking part in the workshop began at the PIB conference room.
Inaugurating the workshop PIB Director General Faruk Wasif said the nation is currently going through a difficult time as no neutral was held in the past 15 years.
“A single misinformation or careless report can create a major crisis. That is why journalists must perform their duties and roles very cautiously during the election time,” he said.
Urging journalists to create awareness for ‘Yes’ vote in the referendum, he said, “Now, the main goal is to peaceful transition to a systematic and normal democratic system at any cost.”
For this, public opinion must be created in favour of a ‘Yes’ vote for the implementation of the July Charter and reforms, he added.
The traditional style of journalism has now changed. In the current era, people are getting information digitally much ahead of breaking the news by the traditional news media.
Journalism is now competing with many distorted information and rumours being made using artificial intelligence (AI), he said urging journalists to fight against this danger.
Journalists must deliver information in a more attractive manner and with an investigative perspective, he noted.
The two-day workshop is designed to enrich the journalists about the legal, technical and moral aspects during different phases of election reporting.
