DHAKA, Aug 23, 2026 (BSS) – Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) Administrator Md Safiqul Islam Khan today said that decorative smart light poles will be installed gradually on different main roads under the jurisdiction of the city corporation.

The smart light poles will be installed aimed at improving mobility of citizens and enhance the beautification of the city, he said.

The DNCC Administrator said this while inaugurating a decorative smart light pole installed by the DNCC’s Electrical Department at the Khamarbari intersection of Manik Mia Avenue here this afternoon, said a DNCC press release.

The administrator said the DNCC has undertaken the project to implement the government’s directive to make Dhaka more illuminated, modern and aesthetic.

“Installing modern decorative poles on important roads across the city will make movement at night safer and more comfortable while the beauty of the city will also be enhanced,” he said.

Safiqul Islam said that the city corporation would also be responsible for regular maintenance of the decorative poles after implementation of the project.

He, however, sought cooperation from city dwellers and all concerned for the development of the city and protect public property.

The administrator said the government is gradually moving ahead with the implementation of its electoral pledges.

“DNCC’s goal is to build a livable city through planned development, cleanliness and ensuring modern civic amenities,” he said.

In this connection, he said Dhaka would be transformed into a modern, clean, odour-free and livable city through collective efforts.

DNCC officials and leaders and activists of Jubo Dal were present at the inaugural ceremony.
