JCD leader pays a DU student’s exam fee from ride-sharing earnings

DHAKA, Aug 23, 2026 (BSS) – A student leader of Bangladesh Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal (JCD) has funded the master’s examination registration fee of a financially distressed Dhaka University (DU) student using his earnings from ride-sharing services.

The recipient, a master's student of the Department of Islamic History and Culture and a resident of Haji Mohammad Mohsin Hall, was facing severe financial hardship.

Following the death of his father a few years ago, the student became the primary provider for his family, but due to lack of tuition opportunities, he was unable to raise the necessary exam fees.

Upon learning the situation, Md Tariqul Islam Tarique, central joint general secretary of JCD and former elected general secretary of Salimullah Muslim Hall JCD, stepped in to cover the entire amount.

Tarique provided the funds directly from the income he earned operating a ride-sharing motorcycle.

"I do not want any student's educational dream to be shattered due to financial constraints," Tarique said.

"Having struggled through difficulties myself, I try to support students within my capacity. When I learned about his predicament, I felt a personal responsibility to assist", he added.
