KMP holds briefing parade ahead of national election, referendum

KHULNA, Feb 10, 2026 (BSS) - Khulna Metropolitan Police (KMP) today held a briefing parade at the KMP Lines ground in Boyra to ensure the 13th national parliamentary election and Referendum are conducted in a peaceful, free and fair manner.

KMP Commissioner Mohammad Zahidul Hasan presided over the parade.

Addressing the gathering, the commissioner said the Khulna Metropolitan Police would carry out its responsibilities with the highest professionalism to ensure the election and referendum are held peacefully, impartially and in a fair environment.

He instructed all officers and members assigned to election duty to perform their tasks lawfully, maintaining honesty, dedication and strict neutrality.

Emphasising a zero-tolerance stance, he warned against any form of irregularities, violence or disorder, saying such actions would be dealt with firmly to protect voters' rights and overall law and order.

The commissioner said police would take the lead role in maintaining security during the polls, while members of the Army, Navy and Air Force would also be deployed alongside them. 

Personnel from the Rapid Action Battalion (RAB), Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) and Ansar under the Ministry of Home Affairs would also be engaged.

He expressed optimism that coordinated efforts among all forces would ensure a free, fair and impartial election.

He further directed mobile patrol teams and striking reserve forces to ensure voters can reach polling centres and return home safely without any obstruction.

The commissioner said most polling centres would be brought under CCTV surveillance, while body-worn cameras would be used to identify and take legal action against any untoward incident or attempt thereof.

Among those present were Additional Police Commissioner (Admin and Finance), recently promoted to the rank of DIG, Abu Raihan Muhammad Saleh; Additional Police Commissioner (Crime and Operations) Mohammad Rashidul Islam Khan, BPM (Service), PPM (Bar); Additional Police Commissioner (Traffic and Protocol) Muhammad Shahnewaz Khaled, PPM (Service); along with other senior officials and police personnel of various ranks.
