KHULNA, Jan 24, 2026 (BSS) - BNP-nominated candidate for Khulna-2 constituency and former MP Nazrul Islam Manju said the BNP would work to build a prosperous, peaceful and secure Khulna by restoring the city's lost industrial heritage if the party voted to power in the upcoming election.

Addressing voters during an election campaign and leaflet distribution at Khulna New Market kitchen market and adjoining areas yesterday, Manju said Khulna, despite being a divisional city, has lost much of its industrial base over the years.

He said the BNP aims to revive Khulna's legacy as a port and industrial city and turn it into a development-oriented region by reopening closed industries and factories, particularly to create employment opportunities for the youth.

Emphasising the party's commitment to development, Manju said BNP Chairman Tarique Rahman has placed development at the centre of the party's politics with the declaration, "I have a plan."

He said the BNP is moving forward with a vision of development and would present the people with a self-reliant economy if elected, citing initiatives such as family cards for women and agriculture cards for farmers.

Manju also highlighted proposed development programmes in health, education and other sectors, adding that further election plans would be announced by party Chairman Tarique Rahman in due course.
