BAGERHAT, Aug 10, 2026 (BSS) - The Khulna Development Authority (KDA) held a public consultation meeting in Bagerhat today to inform residents about its services and master plan and gather their views on planned development.
The meeting was held at the Bagerhat Zilla Parishad Auditorium in the afternoon, with Bagerhat Zilla Parishad Administrator Barrister Sheikh Md Zakir Hossain in the chair.
KDA Chairman Advocate SM Shafiqul Alam Mona attended as the chief guest.
Bagerhat Superintendent of Police Hasan Md Naser Rikabdar, Municipal Administrator Mejba Uddin, Bagerhat Chamber of Commerce President Sheikh Shahed Ali Robi, Sadar Upazila BNP President Syed Nasir Ahmed Malek and Kachua Upazila BNP President Sardar Zahidul Islam attended as special guests.
Representatives of local residents, including former district Jubo Dal general secretary Md Sujan Molla, district Krishak Dal Convener Syed Ashrafuddaula Jewel and Kachua Upazila BNP organising secretary Kamruzzaman Shimul, shared their views.
Journalists Yamin Ali and SS Sohan also spoke at the meeting.
Participants discussed KDA's services and master plan covering 10 unions and nine municipal wards in Bagerhat Sadar upazila. They raised questions and offered suggestions on implementing the master plan, promoting planned urbanisation and improving KDA services in the area.
KDA Chairman SM Shafiqul Alam Mona said the government wants to transform the relatively neglected Khulna region into a model of development and that he had been entrusted with promoting planned urbanisation in the region.
Bagerhat Zilla Parishad Administrator Zakir Hossain stressed the need for cooperation from residents and all stakeholders to ensure the successful implementation of development initiatives.
He urged everyone to work together to ensure planned and sustainable development in the area.
