RAJSHAHI, June 2, 2026 (BSS)- A curtain-raiser ceremony for "International Day of Yoga 2026" was held under the joint initiative of the Assistant High Commission of India, Rajshahi, and the Rajshahi Chamber of Commerce and Industry. 

The event was organized today at the auditorium of the Rajshahi Chamber building.
 
The guests at the event were Advocate Shafiqul Haque Milon, MP, and Abu Sayeed Chand, MP and  Mahfuzur Rahman Riton, Administrator of Rajshahi City Corporation (RCC).
 
The welcome address was delivered by Manoj Kumar, Assistant High Commissioner of India in Rajshahi. Others who spoke  Md. Hasen Ali, President of the Rajshahi Chamber of Commerce and Industry, and Gaziur Rahman, Deputy Commissioner of Rajshahi Metropolitan Police, among others.
 
Speaking at the event, the speakers said that yoga is important not only for physical fitness but also for ensuring mental peace and a healthy lifestyle. 

Regular practice of yoga helps bring discipline, mental stability and positivity into personal life. 

They also noted that the International Day of Yoga is spreading the message of increasing health awareness worldwide and building a healthy lifestyle.
 
In his speech , RCC Administrator Mahfuzur Rahman Riton said such events play an important role in building a healthy, conscious and balanced society. 

Political leaders, directors of the Rajshahi Chamber, senior administration officials, representatives of various social and cultural organizations, and participants were present at the event.
 
It is worth noting that various programs have been undertaken in Rajshahi on the occasion of International Day of Yoga 2026 on June 21. 

As part of this, the curtain-raiser for "International Day of Yoga 2026" was unveiled.
