July Mass Uprising Day tomorrow

DHAKA, Aug 4, 2026 (BSS) - Bangladesh will observe the "July Mass Uprising Day" tomorrow, marking two years of the fall of the Hasina-led fascist government amid a student-led mass uprising that changed the nation's political course.

To commemorate the occasion, the government, political parties and socio-cultural organisations will take various programmes to honour the sacrifices of those including students who took to the streets against misrule and autocracy.

Tomorrow's observance will include tributes, processions and cultural performances, highlighting the importance of the day.

On June 26 in 2025, the interim government announced August 5 as 'July Uprising Day'. It was decided to include the date as a 'Ka' category day in the observance of national and international days to be observed as the 'July Mass Uprising Day' every year.

The day is a public holiday.
