RAJSHAHI, June 2, 2026 (BSS) - The final match and prize distributing ceremony of the "Rongdhonu Night Football Tournament – 2026" was held on Monday in Rajshahi.

The closing ceremony of the tournament organized by Rongdhonu Sporting Club was held on the field opposite Balajan School in the city's Ward No. 2. 

Administrator of Rajshahi City Corporation (RCC) Mahfuzur Rahman Riton was present at the programme as the chief with Kasiadanga Thana BNP General Secretary Maziul Ahsan Himel in the chair. 

Speaking on the occasion, the RCC Administrator said there is no alternative to sports to keep young people away from drugs, terrorism and criminal activities. 

“Sports not only keep the body and mind healthy, but also increase discipline, leadership quality and mutual goodwill. Events like this play an important role in building a healthy, talented and patriotic generation," he said. 

He added, "Everyone in society must come forward to engage the youth in sports and creative activities.

To build Rajshahi into a healthy, beautiful and vibrant city, all positive initiatives to promote sports and culture will be encouraged." 

Later, the chief guest distributed trophies and prizes among the players of the champion and runner-up teams. 

Sports organizers, players, local political leaders and other distinguished guests were present at the event. 

Eight teams participated in the tournament. In the final, Dynamic Rajshahi defeated Team Rasna to become champions.
