CHATTOGRAM, June 2, 2026 (BSS) - One person was killed and three others sustained serious injuries in a road accident in the Shah Amanat Bridge (New Bridge) area under Karnaphuli upazila of Chattogram this morning.

The accident occurred around 8:00 am when a goods-laden pickup van hit a moving motorcycle on the bridge, police said.

According to Sub-Inspector (SI) Mahin Sarwar, who was on duty at the scene, the pickup van lost control after striking the motorcycle and crashed into the road divider.

Of the four people involved in the accident, one died on the spot while the other three suffered critical injuries.

Locals, with assistance from police, rescued the injured and rushed them to Chattogram Medical College Hospital (CMCH) for treatment.

The identity of the deceased could not be ascertained immediately, the SI added.
