CUMILLA, June 1, 2026 (BSS) - Three children drowned in separate incidents within a span of six hours in Chauddagram upazila of the district on Monday.
 
The victims were identified as Ayan, 12, son of Mizanur Rahman, councilor of Ward No-9 of Chauddagram Municipality, Mohammad, 2, son of Farhan Ibne 
Mostafa of Kalkot village under Konkapait Union and Shahadat, 6, son of Md. Hasan of Bangpai village in Munshirhat Union of the upazila.
 
According to hospital sources, the children were brought to Chauddagram Government Hospital between 8:00 am and 2:00 pm after drowning in separate 
incidents. The on-duty doctors examined them and declared all three dead.
 
Chauddagram Upazila Health and Family Planning Officer Dr. Rashid Ahmed Chowdhury Tofail said the children were pronounced dead upon arrival at the 
hospital after necessary examinations.
 
Chauddagram Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Shahadat Hossain confirmed after receiving reports of the three deaths and said inquiries into the incidents 
are underway.
