KHULNA, June 1, 2026 (BSS) - A total of 30 meritorious students from Phultala, Dumuria, Batiaghata and Koyra upazilas received bicycles under an initiative of the Khulna Zila Parishad aimed at encouraging education and easing students' transportation to educational institutions.
The bicycles were distributed at a function held at the Zila Parishad auditorium at 11am today.
Member of Parliament for Khulna-5 constituency, Ali Azgar Lobby, attended the programme as the chief guest, while Member of Parliament for Khulna-1 constituency, Amir Ejaz Khan, addressed the event as the main speaker.
The function was chaired by the Acting Member Secretary of Khulna District BNP and Administrator of Khulna Zila Parishad, S M Monirul Hasan Bappi.
Speaking on the occasion, the guests urged the students to remain dedicated to their studies and contribute to the country's development in the future.
They said such initiatives of the Zila Parishad would continue to encourage talented students and support their educational pursuits.
At the end of the programme, the guests formally handed over bicycles and keys to the selected 30 students from the four upazilas.
Students, guardians, public representatives and people from different walks of life were present at the event.
The organizers expressed hope that the bicycle distribution programme would facilitate students' commuting to schools and further motivate them to continue their education.
