KHULNA, June 1, 2026 (BSS) - Government and private offices, banks, insurance companies and other financial institutions in Khulna resumed operations today after a seven-day Eid-ul-Azha holiday.
Regular banking activities also resumed across the district and the country following the end of the extended vacation. Although some bank branches had remained open on a limited scale before Eid to facilitate salary and bonus payments for workers in the readymade garments sector, full-fledged banking services began from Monday.
Government offices, courts and financial institutions had remained closed from May 25 to May 31 in line with the government's holiday schedule for Eid-ul-Azha.
Earlier, the government announced that offices, courts and banks would reopen on June 1 following the Eid vacation. Ahead of the holiday, government offices, courts and all bank branches remained open on May 23 and 24 despite the weekend break.
As part of special arrangements, several bank branches in garment-industry areas continued operations on May 25 and 26 to facilitate the disbursement of wages and festival bonuses to workers of the country's export-oriented readymade garments sector.
City residents also thronged various offices, banks and financial institutions to complete pending official and financial transactions, bringing back the usual bustle to the city after the festive break.
