Eid-ul-Azha being celebrated with due religious fervor in Gaibandha

GAIBANDHA, MAY 28, 2026 (BSS) - The holy Eid-ul-Azha, the second largest religious festivals of the Muslims, is being celebrated in all the seven upazilas in the district today with due religious fervor, gaiety and solemnity and spirit of sacrifice.
 
In the morning, streams of people including the young, old and children rushed to the nearest eidgahs, mosques and selected open places and offered their Eid-prayers.
 
The main Eid congregation was held at Boro Masjid of the town here at the arrangement of the district administration.
 
Deputy Commissioner (DC) Muhammad Masudur Rahman Mollah,  senior officials of the district administration, leaders of political parties, elite of the town, professionals and journalists joined the congregation in the festive mood.
 
Earlier, DC Mohammad Masuder Rahman Mollah received the devotees and exchanged Eid greetings with them at the gate of the mosque.
 
Speaking on the occasion, DC Masuder  RahmanMollah said the officials of district administration were working relentlessly to push forward the district towards desired development and sought the cordial cooperation of Gaibandha people to attain the cherished goal.
 
The other Eid congregations were also held at Gaibandha Police Lines, Gausul Azam Eidgah, Al-Falah Jame Mosque, V-AID Road Jame Mosque, PWD Jame Mosque, Gorosthan Jame Mosque, Fakirpara Jame Mosque, Khanka Sharif Jame Mosque, DC-Court Jame Mosque, Circuit House Madrasa Jame Mosque, Dhanghara Eidgah ground, David Companypara Jame Mosque and Station Jame Mosque of the town.
 
Thousands of musallis offered special munajat seeking divine blessing and eternal peace of the departed souls, continued peace, progress and prosperity of the country and the Muslim Ummah and embraced with each other saying Eid-Mubarak.
 
Later, the Muslims devotees sacrificed thousands of animals including cow, goat, sheep and buffalos at their homes and the selected places of the district town in the name of Almighty Allah in commemoration of the supreme sacrifice made by Hazrat Ibrahim (AS).
 
Special and improved diets were also served among the inmates of jail and different hospitals, Shishuv Paribars and orphans of the district on the holy occasion.
 
RAB, police, and other law enforcement agencies including scouts were deployed everywhere for the peaceful celebration of the Eid-ul-Azha in the district.
