Meanwhile, in Palash, BNP Standing Committee Member and Member of Parliament for Narsingdi-2, Dr. Abdul Moyeen Khan, joined local worshippers.
Major congregations were also held at the District Collectorate Eidgah ground and other key locations, drawing wide participation from professionals as well as leaders and activists from the BNP, Jamaat-e-Islami and NCP.
Extending Eid greetings to the public after the prayers, BNP Joint Secretary General Khairul Kabir Khokon said the current government will bring fascist Sheikh Hasina back to the country to face trial.
He said the public holds her responsible for directing past incidents of enforced disappearance and killings, adding that the people would no longer accept them.
He further remarked that while threats are being made about regaining strength within the next few months, the public is no longer afraid of such warnings.
Health Minister Sakhawat expressed deep condolences over the tragic deaths of children in the pediatric ward of Ad-din Hospital, calling the incident heartbreaking even amid the nationwide Eid celebrations.
He explained that the accident might have occurred due to a gas leakage after the air conditioner in the children’s ward was switched off at the request of a mother.
The minister announced that a probe committee has already been formed and instructed to submit its report within 72 hours, adding that strict legal action will be taken against the hospital authorities once the investigation report is received.
Turning to public health concerns, the Minister also said that the government has taken all necessary measures to tackle the ongoing measles situation.
He assured that adequate vaccines are currently in stock and that every child will be brought under vaccination coverage.
The minister added that the total number of measles infections and related deaths has already started to decline across the country.
