CHATTOGRAM, May 27, 2026 (BSS) - The Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) has intensified security across the Chattogram metropolis ahead of Eid-ul-Azha. 
 
Specialized teams, including K9 dog squads, have been deployed to key locations to protect home-bound travelers, secure cattle markets, and deter criminal activity during the festive period.
 
On Wednesday, Lieutenant Commander Md. Towhidul Islam of Chattogram RAB inspected the central Eidgah Maidan and several livestock markets, including the Sagarika cattle market. During the visit, officials exchanged Eid greetings with local business owners, community dignitaries, and journalists.
 
Security patrols and checkposts have been bolstered in high-traffic zones, including Alankar, the AK Khan bus stand, and along the Dhaka-Chattogram highway. 
 
To combat extortion, robberies, pickpocketing, and drugging gangs, RAB has deployed additional plainclothes intelligence personnel alongside standard checkposts.
 
At the livestock markets, RAB personnel are managing traffic flow, detecting counterfeit currency, and working with local administrations to ensure the smooth transit of cattle vehicles. 
 
Authorities have urged buyers and sellers to remain cautious during cash transactions and report any suspicious behavior immediately.
 
In addition to physical security, a dedicated RAB cyber team is active to curb the spread of rumors on social media. 
 
Officials stated that robust patrols have successfully maintained a stable law and order situation across the city, with no major incidents reported.
