Businessman killed, 2 sons injured in Noakhali road mishap

NOAKHALI, Feb 20, 2026 (BSS) - A fertilizer businessman was killed and his 
two sons were critically injured when an oil-laden tanker crushed their 
motorcycle in the Kabirhat upazila of the district today.

The deceased was identified as Md. Shafiq, 60, son of the late Mominul Haque 
and a resident of Sundalpur Union.

According to local sources and police, the accident occurred around 11am in 
the Transmitter area of Sundalpur Union on the Sonapur-Kabirhat road. A 
Kabirhat-bound Jamuna Oil tanker lost control and struck the motorcycle 
carrying Shafiq and his sons.

Shafiq died on the spot and his sons-- Shakil (21) and Md. Eka (19)-- 
sustained serious injuries. Locals rescued the duo immediately and rushed 
them to the 250-bed Noakhali General Hospital, where their condition is 
reported to be critical.

Kabirhat Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Nizam Uddin Bhuiyan confirmed 
the incident, stating that police have recovered the body and detained the 
truck driver.
