BOGURA, Feb 19, 2026 (BSS) - Members of the Department of Narcotics Control (DNC) arrested two alleged drug traffickers along with 3,000 pieces of contraband Yaba tablets during a raid on a passenger bus in Bogura last night.
The drive was carried out on a bus of ‘Taj Paribahan’ on the Dhaka–Rangpur highway in front of TMSS Medical College and Rafatullah Community Hospital in the Nawdapara area of Sadar upazila.
The arrestees were identified as Manarul Islam alias Manna, 28, son of Fariz Uddin of Bongaon Kalitala in Haripur upazila in Thakurgaon district, and Anwar Hossain, 30, son of late Nur Islam of Paschim Bongaon area of the upazila.
Deputy Director of DNC Zillur Rahman confirmed the matter on Thursday morning. He said the drive was conducted based on intelligence inputs. During the drive, officers searched two passengers who were reportedly sitting in seats G-1 and G-2 without tickets.
A total of 3,000 Yaba tablets and two mobile phones were recovered from their possession.
During initial interrogation, the detainees reportedly confessed that they used to smuggle Yaba consignments taking advantage of the Sehri hours during Ramadan.
In connection with the incident, Sub-Inspector Md. Shah Alam filed a regular case under the Narcotics Control Act with Bogura Sadar Police Station as the complainant.
