BGB seizes drugs, contraband worth Tk 47 lakh in Kushtia

KUSHTIA, Feb 18, 2026 (BSS) - Members of Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) have seized a large quantity of drugs and other contraband goods worth approximately Taka 47 lakh in separate special drives in the border areas of Kushtia.

According to a press release issued by the Kushtia Battalion (47 BGB) this afternoon, the drives were conducted on February 17 and 18 based on specific intelligence information. Various Border Outposts (BOPs) under the battalion carried out coordinated operations in their respective areas of responsibility.

During the drives, the items were recovered in an ownerless condition.

The seized goods include 0.230 kilograms of Indian heroin, 25 bottles of liquor, 984 sildenafil tablets, 620 packets of leaf bidis, 15,480 pieces of chocolate fireworks, 6,600 dexamethasone tablets and cyproheptadine hydrochloride, and 216 pieces of city gold chains.

The total estimated market value of the recovered items is Taka 47,15,400.

BGB officials said preparations are underway to hand over the seized smuggled goods to the concerned customs office in accordance with legal procedures. The recovered narcotics have been stored at the battalion's warehouse for destruction following due process.
