KHULNA, Feb 17 (BSS) – The Trading Corporation of Bangladesh (TCB) has started selling essential commodities at subsidised prices through trucks at 15 points in Khulna city marking the holy month of Ramadan.
Under the programme, consumers will be able to purchase soybean oil, lentils, sugar, chickpeas and dates at prices lower than the prevailing market rates.
According to TCB sources, the sale began this morning at different locations across the city.
The designated points include Boyra Government Women’s College, Prantik Market, Textile Mill Road, GoborchakaPalliMangal School ground, Ershad Ali School ground, in front of Shishu Hospital, in front of Bagmara Motaleb Chairman’s house, Bosupara Orphanage Road, Alkatra Club intersection, Khulna Press Club, South Tutpara Mosque ground, Pioneer Government Women’s College, Shipyard Road Chandmari Bazar, beneath the Rupsha Bridge, AfilUddin School premises and Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy in Khulna.
Sources said chickpeas and dates have been added to the regular items for Ramadan. The price of each package has been fixed at Taka 590.
Around 400 customers will be able to purchase products from each truck daily.
Khulna Regional Director of TCB MdHumayunKabir said the products will be sold every day except weekly and government holidays.
Besides family card holders, general consumers will also be able to buy the products without any additional requirements, he added. #
