CHATTOGRAM, Feb 16, 2026 (BSS)- Kotwali thana police arrested seven alleged members of a dacoit gang who were caught while preparing for a robbery in the city's old railway station area on Sunday night.
 
The arrested persons are Alamgir Hossain Prakash Alam (36), Taslim (39), Russell (22), Arafat Hossain (22), Ayat Badsha (22), Hasan (22), and Hridoy (21).

The Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Kotwali Police Station, Aftab Uddin said seven suspected dacoits were arrested on the basis of secret information. They were allegedly were planning a robbery targeting vehicles and pedestrians at the CRB Sat Rastar Matha area in the city. 

The police recovered various weapons from their possession including different types of knives and other apparatus.

The gang, previously have a record of dacoiting history, was traveling around the city and district in private cars, seizing opportunities to carry out robberies, according to the OC. 

A case has been registered at Kotwali Police Station regarding this incident.
