DHAKA, August 30, 2026 (BSS) - The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) has summoned former Chief of Army Staff General S M Shafiuddin Ahmed for questioning as part of an investigation into the allegations of acquiring illegal assets through corruption.
ACC Deputy Director of the Public Relations Department Md Aktarul Islam confirmed the matter to BSS today.
In a letter sent from the ACC headquarters, General S M Shafiuddin Ahmed has been asked to appear at the commission's headquarters on September 14 with a photocopy of his National Identity Card (NID).
The notice signed by ACC Director and Investigating Officer Md Abul Hasnat said an investigation is underway into the allegations that the former army chief acquired illegal assets through various irregularities and corruptions. It said hearing and recording his statement is needed for proper investigation into the allegation.
The notice further said a two-member investigation team has been formed to conduct the inquiry and submit its report, with ACC Director Md Abul Hasnat as team leader and Deputy Director Mozammel Hossain as its member.
The former army chief has been requested to appear at the ACC headquarters at the scheduled time to give his statement regarding the allegations.
