Fake DGFI official detained in Gulshan

DHAKA, Aug 30, 2026 (BSS) - Police have detained a man for allegedly impersonating an assistant director of the Directorate General of Forces Intelligence (DGFI) in the capital's Gulshan area.

The detainee was identified as Md Saif Imran, 37.

According to a DMP press release, Imran parked his motorcycle beside the Pakistan High Commission in Gulshan at around 12:15 pm on Saturday.

When police personnel on duty asked him not to park there, he introduced himself as an assistant director of DGFI and claimed that DGFI vehicles were usually parked at the spot.

Later at around 7:15 pm the same day, Imran returned and parked his motorcycle at the same location, prompting police to become suspicious.

During detailed questioning about his identity, he eventually admitted that he was neither an official nor a member of DGFI, police said.

He was subsequently detained for allegedly concealing his actual identity by using a false DGFI identity.

Police said a regular case has been filed against him with Gulshan Police Station under the relevant law.
