DHAKA, Aug 20, 2026 (BSS) - Air Astra has added its second brand-new ATR 72-600 aircraft to its fleet, taking the private carrier's fleet size to five as part of its continued expansion.

The new aircraft, bearing registration S2-STE, landed at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport (HSIA) in Dhaka last night, marking another milestone in the airline's fleet and network expansion, said a press release here today.

"The arrival of our second brand-new ATR 72-600 is another proud milestone in Air Astra's journey. Reaching a fleet of five aircraft is a testament to the dedication of our team and the continued trust of our passengers and partners," Air Astra CEO Imran Asif said.

"We remain committed to strengthening our fleet, expanding our network and delivering a safe, reliable and comfortable flying experience to our passengers," he added.

Air Astra said the addition of its second brand-new ATR 72-600 reflects its commitment to building a modern, efficient and reliable fleet while strengthening air connectivity between key destinations across the country.

The fleet expansion will also support the airline's future plans to spread its wings beyond the domestic market and launch international operations, it added.

The aircraft is powered by the latest-generation Pratt & Whitney PW127XT engines, offering enhanced efficiency and performance for regional operations.

Configured with 72 Geven Neo Prestige seats, the aircraft is designed to offer passengers a modern and comfortable travel experience across the airline's domestic network.
