DHAKA, Aug 20, 2026 (BSS)- State Minister for Health and Family Welfare Dr MA Muhit has said the incumbent government is giving utmost importance to ensuring public health protection through disease prevention.

He made the remark while speaking as the chief guest at the inaugural session of the nationwide oral cholera vaccination campaign in city’s Tejgaon area this morning.

Along with inaugurating the vaccination campaign at the event, the state minister called for the vaccination to be spread among all across the country by administering the vaccine to a disabled person.

Muhit said if people put emphasis on preventive measures rather than treatment, the pressure of additional patients on the national health system will be reduced.

He said the highest allocation has been made to the health sector this year's budget in the country’s history.
 

The work of upgrading the 50-bed health complex to 150-bed in every upazila is going on in full swing to reach medical services at the doorsteps of the people.

Highlighting the importance of vaccination to eliminate cholera and diarrhea-related diseases, the state minister said it is an easily accepted oral vaccine.

This vaccine must be delivered to every person in living in remote areas, he said, calling upon all social organisations and local leaders to turn vaccination into an effective social movement.

Apart from vaccination, Dr Muhit said the use and conservation of pure and safe water must be ensured for drinking, cooking and household tasks to stay safe from serious water-borne diseases like cholera and diarrhea.

Health Services Division Secretary Quamruzzaman Chowdhury presided over the event.
