DHAKA, Aug 20, 2026 (BSS) - A total of 506 people were arrested and 55 cases filed in the past 24 hours as Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) conducted regular anti-crime operations across the capital.

According to a DMP press release, the arrests were made by different divisions of the metropolitan police. 

Mirpur Division made the highest number of arrests with 120, followed by Gulshan Division with 93 and Wari Division with 65.

Uttara Division arrested 63 people, Motijheel Division 47, Lalbagh Division 45, Tejgaon Division 41, Ramna Division 25 and Detective Branch (DB) seven.

During the operations, police recovered two switchblades, 27.51 kg of cannabis, 231 yaba tablets and five grams of heroin.

Police also recovered one stolen Ena bus, one truck, 17 motorcycles, eight mobile phones, Tk 267,000 in stolen cash and 4 bhori 15 ana 5 ratti of stolen gold ornaments. 

Two victims were also rescued during the drives.

Legal proceedings against the arrested individuals are underway.
