CHITTAGONG UNIVERSITY, July 13, 2026 (BSS) - Six Chittagong University (CU) teachers received 'CU Best Research Article Award-2025' today.

The awardees received their recognition at a progarmme titled 'Best Research Article Award Ceremony and Research Workshop', hosted by the university's Research and Publication Cell at the Faculty of Marine Sciences and Fisheries Auditorium in the morning. 

The award recipients are Prof. Dr. Farzana Yesmen Chowdhury of the Institute of Modern Languages (IML), Associate Prof. Dr. Awlad Hosen Sagar of the Department of Finance, Associate Prof. Dr. Md Kowsar Alam of the Department of Physics, Associate Prof. Dr. Muhammad Kazim Noor Sohad of the Department of Anthropology, Prof. Dr. Jamal Uddin Ahamed of the Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering and Prof. Dr. Rumana Aktar of the Department of Psychology.

CU Vice-Chancellor Prof. Dr. Mohammad Al-Forkan attended the programme as the chief guest. Pro-Vice Chancellor (Academic) Prof. Dr. Mohammed Al-Amin and Pro-Vice Chancellor (Admin) Prof. Dr. Md. Safiqul Islam were present as special guests.

"Such recognition encourages researchers, inspires them to undertake new research and enriches the culture of research at the university. Achievements in research, internationally recognized publications and knowledge creation form one of the strongest foundations for strengthening the university's position in global rankings," said Prof Forkan.

Prof Al-Amin said, "A significant amount of research is being conducted at CU, which is certainly encouraging. However, we must place greater emphasis on research that provides new directions for the country, contributes to policymaking and offers effective solutions to real-world problems. That is where the true success of research lies."

Prof Safiqul Islam said, "Such recognition will further boost researchers' confidence and inspire them to engage in new research, innovation and knowledge creation. It will not only acknowledge individual achievements but also enrich our academic environment and further enhance the image of CU."

The programme was chaired by Director of the CU Research and Publication Cell Prof. Dr. Tanvir Mohammad Hayder Arif. The welcome address was delivered by the programme convener, Prof. Dr. Sheikh Aftab Uddin, while Prof. Dr. Muhammed Alamgir, Chairman of the Department of Marketing, conducted the session.

Among others present were Dean of the Faculty of Business Administration Prof. Dr. Mohammad Saleh Zahur, Dean of the Faculty of Social Sciences Prof. Dr. Md. Enayet Ullah Patwary, Dean of the Faculty of Marine Sciences and Fisheries Prof. Dr. Md. Shahadat Hossain, Dean of the Faculty of Biological Sciences Prof. Dr. A. M. Masudul Azad Chowdhury and Chairman of the Department of Fisheries Prof. Dr. Mohammed Ashraful Azam Khan.
