DHAKA, Sept 10, 2026 (BSS) – Religious Affairs Minister Kazi Shah Mofazzal Houssain (Kaikobad) has said that various landmark reform initiatives are being undertaken through the Ministry of Religious Affairs to further establish religious harmony and equality in the country.

“Under the leadership of Prime Minister Tarique Rahman, the government is undertaking various initiatives to further establish religious harmony and equality, with landmark reform programmes being implemented through the Ministry of Religious Affairs,” he said.

The minister said this while addressing a discussion and prize-giving ceremony as the chief guest, organized by the administration of Jagannath University (JnU) at its central auditorium today, marking the holy Eid-e-Miladunnabi.

He said that an initiative has also been taken to introduce monthly honorariums and welfare allowances for religious leaders with state funding.

Mentioning that Almighty Allah sent the Great Prophet Hazrat Muhammad (SA) as a blessing for the entire universe, he said every aspect of the Prophet’s (SA) life is an excellent example for humanity, and following his way of life can lead to success in this world and the hereafter.

JnU Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr. Md. Rais Uddin attended the programme as the chief discussant, while Director General of the Islamic Foundation Mufti Muhammad Muhibbullahil Baqi and JnU Treasurer Professor Dr. Sabina Sharmeen were present as special guests.

Marking Eid-e-Miladunnabi (SA), JnU organized competitions in Qirat, Hamd, Naat-e-Rasul and essay writing.

The winners received prizes, including Tk 50,000 for the first-place essay winner and Tk 150,000 for 11 other winners.

JnU officials, teachers, employees, student leaders and invited guests attended the programme.
