DHAKA, Sept 10, 2026 (BSS) – The driver of a bus, whose passenger was found dead on Dhaka Elevated Expressway on September 4, today gave a confessional statement before a court, admitting his role in the killing and dumping the victim’s body.

Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Kamal Uddin recorded the statement of Sohel Rana, driver of Raj Classic bus, under Section 164 as police produced him before the court this afternoon.

According to the case documents, police recovered the body of Ismail Hossain from the Kakoli-Kuril area of Dhaka Elevated Expressway on September 4. His hands and face were tied with white scotch tape.

Police said the victim was carrying Taka five lakh after selling a piece of land to spend the money on his daughter’s wedding. As he was paying the bus fare, the staff saw the money and planned to rob and kill him.

They killed Ismail and dumped his body on the expressway between pillars 179 and 180.
