DHAKA, Sept 10, 2026 (BSS) – The High Court (HC) today discharged two rules it had issued earlier, paving the way for Grameen Kalyan, a non-profit social business company founded by former chief adviser to the interim government Dr Muhammad Yunus, to pay Taka 666 crore in taxes.

A High Court division bench of Justice Md Mozibur Rahman Miah and Justice Rezaul Karim pronounced the judgment after holding hearing on the matters.

Senior advocate Abdullah Al Mamun argued for Grameen Kalyan, while Deputy Attorney General Abdus Samad Azad stood for the state.

As a result of today's verdict, Grameen Kalyan will have to pay Taka 666. 91 crore in taxes to the National Board of Revenue (NBR) for the tax years from 2012 to 2017, said the state lawyer.
