DHAKA, March 31, 2026 (BSS) - A total of 30,009 workers have received legal services at government expense under the National Legal Aid Services Organization.
The information was revealed in a report published on the official website of the legal aid body, covering activities from 2009 to February 2026.
Initially, the services were introduced at the district level for underprivileged people. Later, labour legal aid cells were established in Dhaka and Chattogram to provide support to workers.
According to the report, 22,083 legal consultation services were provided during the period.
Legal assistance was initiated in 4,617 cases, of which 820 have been resolved so far.
Additionally, alternative dispute resolution (ADR) initiatives were taken in 3,309 cases, with 1,920 cases settled through ADR.
The services are provided at government expense under the Legal Aid Services Act to ensure access to justice for financially insolvent and disadvantaged people.
The activities of the National Legal Aid Services Organization are directed under the Law and Justice Division of the Ministry of Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs.
