GAZIPUR, Aug 30, 2026 (BSS) - A man was killed and two women were injured in a collision between a CNG-run auto-rickshaw and a pickup van in Kaliganj municipality area of the district this afternoon.

The deceased was identified as Md Hafiz Sheikh, 65, son of Abdul Kadir of Bahadursadi village in Kaliganj upazila. 

The accident occurred around 1.45 pm in Bagher Para area on the Tongi-Ghorashal highway when a CNG-run autorickshaw collided head-on with a pickup van, leaving autorickshaw passenger Hafiz dead on the spot and two others injured.

The injured women were taken to Kaliganj Upazila Government Hospital for treatment.

Kaliganj Police Station Sub-Inspector Javed confirmed the matter and said legal action will be taken in connection with the incident.
