DHAKA, Aug 30, 2026 (BSS) - The Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) arrested 17 people in separate special drives in the capital's Hazaribagh and Kalabagan areas on Saturday.

Police said Hazaribagh police conducted a special operation in crime-prone areas and arrested 11 people, while Kalabagan police arrested six others.

The detainees include Md Ershad, 29; Md Rana, 28, Md Zakir Hossain, 35, Abu Kalam, 38, Helal, 40, Nirab Mondal, 19; Md Abdul Khalek, 35, Md Tushar, 22, Md Arafat Hossain, 22, Md Faisal, 34, and Md Iran, 28.

The six arrested in Kalabagan were identified as Raju alias Raju Matubbar, 35, Md Dilshad Hossain; Abida Islam, Md Kamruzzaman Russell, 32, Tamirul Islam, 35, and Piyel Sarker Sukarna, 25.

According to police, the arrested people include accused in regular and warrant cases as well as individuals allegedly involved in various criminal activities.

Legal action has been taken against the detainees.
