BAGERHAT, Nov 25, 2025 (BSS) - Participants at a women's rally have urged greater awareness and empowerment of women to accelerate social and economic development in the country.
The District Information Office organized the rally on Monday afternoon at Burujbari Government Primary School in Morelganj Upazila of the district.
Director General of the Department of Mass Communication Md Abdul Jalil joined virtually as chief guest.
In his speech, he said, "Women's development, proper use of information, and social awareness are key to building a prosperous Bangladesh. Active participation of women in education, health, digital services, and family matters accelerates development."
He added that government programmes for women's empowerment rely heavily on information awareness.
Deputy Director Muinul Islam briefed participants on women's rights, social security, child marriage prevention, and government information services, while District Primary Education Officer Nasreen Akhter highlighted mothers' and guardians' roles in primary education and student safety.
Bagerhat Information Officer Saha Chandra Shekhar delivered the welcome speech. Local women, teachers, and guardians attended the event.
