LALMONIRHAT, Jan 27, 2026 (BSS) - A district-level imam conference was held in the district today to raise voter awareness and encourage active participation in the democratic process ahead of the upcoming national elections.
The conference took place at 10:30 am at the field adjacent to the District Model Mosque, with the participation of Imams and Khatibs from different parts of the district.
Deputy Commissioner HM Rakib Haider attended the programme as the chief guest, while Superintendent of Police Md. Asaduzzaman was present as the special guest.
Among others, Md. Abdul Hamid Khan, Director of the Finance and Accounts Department of the Islamic Foundation, Mustafa Mansur Alam Khan, Director of the Islamic Foundation Rangpur Divisional Office, concerned officials and a large number of imams were present at the conference.
Maulana Md.Rafiqul Islam, acting principal of Lalmonirhat Nesaria Kamil Madrasa and Muhtamim Maulana Zainul Abedin of Aditmari Markazul Quran Madrasa addressed the programme as discussants.
The conference was chaired by Rezaul Karim, Deputy Director of the Islamic Foundation, Lalmonirhat.
Speakers at the programme emphasized the moral responsibility of voters in the context of the forthcoming national elections. They said that fair, free and participatory elections are essential for strengthening democracy in the country.
They also said that imams and religious leaders can play a vital role in maintaining peace and order in society and in creating public awareness about voting rights.
