DHAKA, Sept 10, 2026 (BSS) - Prime Minister’s Adviser on Posts, Telecommunications and Information Technology Rehan Asif Asad today said the role of artificial intelligence (AI) cannot be overlooked as Bangladesh works towards its ambition of building a trillion-dollar economy by 2034.
"We firmly believe in the potential of Bangladesh's digital economy and its role in driving the country's next phase of growth. As we work towards our ambition of building a trillion-dollar economy by 2034, the role of AI cannot be overlooked," he said.
He said AI is already reshaping economies, industries and societies globally, and Bangladesh's ability to embrace and harness its potential will be critical to the country's progress.
Rehan Asif Asad said this while addressing an event as the chief guest at GP House where he officially announced the launch of "OneAI" on Grameenphone's MyGP app, according to a press release.
The adviser said he was encouraged to see Grameenphone taking the lead in making AI more accessible to people through initiatives such as OneAI.
He said this creates an affordable way for students in particular to access AI tools and use them to support learning, research and skill development.
The adviser added that he looks forward to seeing how such initiatives contribute to accelerating AI adoption and advancing Bangladesh's digital transformation.
Grameenphone Chief Executive Officer Yasir Azman, the Grameenphone Management Team and employees were present at the event. Sabirul Haque, Managing Director of OneAI Limited, was also present.
Grameenphone, the country's leading telecommunications service provider, has launched OneAI on its MyGP app, bringing together multiple AI models and tools under a single interface and subscription.
OneAI is designed to make advanced AI tools simpler, more accessible and more affordable for everyday users, bringing leading AI models such as ChatGPT, Claude, Grok, DeepSeek and Gemini onto one platform.
By removing the need to navigate and manage multiple AI services and subscriptions separately, OneAI lets customers use AI seamlessly for a wide range of everyday needs, from learning and research to content writing, coding and software development, creative work, AI image generation, and document analysis and summarisation.
Yasir Azman described the launch as the next chapter of Grameenphone's broader AI&I journey, saying AI is no longer experimental for the company and is increasingly embedded across its people, operations and customer experiences, from autonomous networks and hyper-personalisation to AI-powered customer service.
Grameenphone users can access OneAI directly through the MyGP app and purchase a variety of packages using their mobile balance.
