DINAJPUR, Sept 10, 2026 (BSS) - Twenty-two students of Hajee Mohammad Danesh Science and Technology University (HSTU) in Dinajpur have been selected to participate in the prestigious United Nations Millennium Fellowship 2026.

The information was disclosed at a press release issued by the university's Public Relations Department at noon today.

According to the release, HSTU has secured a place in the Millennium Fellowship Class of 2026 following intense global competition.

The university was selected among more than 330 campuses from over 6,000 applications submitted worldwide, with 22 of its talented students being chosen as Millennium Fellows.

The fellowship is jointly organized by the United Nations Academic Impact (UNAI) and the Millennium Campus Network (MCN). 

Based on merit, a total of 22 students from HSTU have been selected as Millennium Fellows this year.

To coordinate the fellowship activities and the social initiatives of the young fellows, two HSTU students, Animesh Chakraborty Tapu and Nishita Saha Nodi, have been appointed Campus Directors. 

Along with the 22 fellows, they will work on various social and development-oriented projects aimed at contributing to the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

Speaking about the international achievement, Campus Directors Animesh Chakraborty Tapu and Nishita Saha Nodi told BSS that the opportunity to represent their university on the global stage was a matter of great pride.

They said their main objective would be to effectively channel the innovative ideas and social development initiatives of the 22 HSTU fellows in line with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals.

The Millennium Fellowship is an international student leadership and social impact programme that brings together students from universities around the world.

It provides participants with opportunities to strengthen leadership skills, develop technological and innovative ideas, and work toward addressing global challenges.

The university authorities said HSTU's success on the international platform would inspire other students to showcase their talent and leadership in the global arena.

The selected 22 students have also been informed that they will be notified of the date and time for joining the fellowship within the stipulated period.

When contacted, HSTU Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr. Md. Enamulllah described the achievement as a positive and prestigious milestone for the university in the field of higher education.

He expressed hope that the HSTU students participating in the UN Millennium Fellowship would further enhance the university's reputation and prestige on the international stage.
