DHAKA, Sept 2, 2026 (BSS) - The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) has decided to investigate allegations of corruption in transfer, recruitment and promotion against former Adviser to the Ministry of Youth and Sports Asif Mahmud Sajeeb Bhuiyan.

ACC Deputy Director of the Public Relations Department Md Aktarul Islam disclosed the information at a regular media briefing at the ACC headquarters here today.

The ACC said allegations have also been brought against Youth and Sports Ministry Secretary Md Mahbub-Ul-Alam, Joint Secretary Shaikh Mohammad Jobayed Hossain and Deputy Secretary Md Masum Ahmed.

According to the allegations, Taka 76 lakh was allegedly embezzled by cancelling the current-charge assignments of 38 upazila youth development officers and issuing posting orders.

Besides, there are allegations of corruption involving Taka 1.5 crore for the promotion of 150 assistant upazila youth development officers and Taka 2 crore for their posting to their preferred positions after promotion.

According to ACC documents, allegations have been raised against a syndicate involving several officials of the Department of Youth Development over irregularities in various areas, including transfers, recruitment and promotions, as well as corruption in tender manipulation and procurement.

The allegations also stated that the accused were leading luxurious lifestyles with money earned through corruption.

The ACC formed a four-member team led by ACC Deputy Director Md Zahid Kalam to investigate the allegations. The other members of the team are Assistant Director Md Nasrullah Hossain, Deputy Assistant Director Imran Akon and Deputy Assistant Director Roman Uddin.
