DHAKA, Sept 2, 2026 (BSS) - Information and Broadcasting Minister Andaleeve Rahman today called upon people to rise above political affiliations and differences of opinion and work collectively for the country's progress.

He made the call during his first visit to his Bhola constituency after taking oath and assuming office.

The minister said the previous Awami League government had weakened the country's economy during its 17-year rule, while Prime Minister Tarique Rahman assumed office at a challenging juncture in the country's history.

"We have to overcome this situation. So now, rising above party affiliations and differences of opinion, we will take the country forward towards progress," he said.

Seeking cooperation from all in developing Bhola, Andaleeve said, "We have to advance the development of Bhola together with everyone."

The minister said he had not tolerated any irregularities or corruption during his six months as a member of parliament and would continue to maintain the same stance in the future.

"If anyone commits wrongdoing, terrorism, extortion, land grabbing or irregularities using my party or my name, they are not members of my party," he said, adding that he had never engaged in tender manipulation.

Andaleeve also urged people to lodge written complaints with the office of the Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) regarding irregularities in the implementation of TR and Kabikha programmes, assuring that action would be taken against those responsible.

During his visit, the minister was greeted by leaders and activists of the BNP and Bangladesh Jatiya Party, along with people from different walks of life.

Later, he received a guard of honour from the district police and held a meeting with the deputy commissioner, police superintendent and senior officials of various administrative departments at his residence in Ukil Para.
