DHAKA, Sept 02, 2026 (BSS) - The Bangladesh Energy Regulatory Commission (BERC) today reduced the retail price of a 12-kg liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) cylinder by Tk 13 for September.

Under the revised rate, consumers will have to pay Tk 1,585 for a 12-kg LPG cylinder, down from the previous price of Tk 1,598.

BERC Secretary Md Nazrul Islam Sarkar disclosed the new price today, while BERC Chairman Jalal Ahmed announced the decision.

The revised price will come into effect at 6pm today and remain effective until further notice. All licensed LPG marketing companies have been instructed to implement the new rate.

According to a BERC notification, the revised price is inclusive of Value Added Tax (VAT) and applicable at the retail consumer level.

The commission has also reduced the price of privately marketed LPG at the reticulated stage to Tk 128.37 per kilogram from Tk 129.40, inclusive of VAT. Meanwhile, the price of LPG supplied through the gas system has been reduced to Tk 285.30 per cubic metre from Tk 287.50.

Under the revised rates, prices of different LPG cylinder sizes at the retail level have been fixed at Tk 1,652 for 12.5 kg, Tk 1,982 for 15 kg, Tk 2,114 for 16 kg, Tk 2,378 for 18 kg, Tk 2,642 for 20 kg, Tk 2,907 for 22 kg, Tk 3,303 for 25 kg, Tk 3,964 for 30 kg, Tk 4,360 for 33 kg, Tk 4,624 for 35 kg and Tk 5,945 for 45 kg.

The BERC said the National Board of Revenue (NBR) had withdrawn VAT at the production stage of LPG and imposed VAT at the import stage.

The commission revised the prices of privately marketed LPG and auto gas for September in line with the latest Saudi Aramco Contract Price (Saudi CP).

Saudi Aramco has set the September 2026 contract price at US$625 per tonne for propane and US$660 per tonne for butane.

Considering the propane-butane mixing ratio of 35:65, the weighted average Saudi CP stands at US$647.75 per tonne.

Based on the latest Saudi CP, BERC fixed the retail consumer price of privately marketed LPG at Tk 132.12 per kilogram, inclusive of VAT.
