DHAKA, Aug 29, 2026 (BSS) - Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) seized smuggled goods, yaba tablets, Indian liquor and other contraband in separate drives along the Sylhet, Cox's Bazar, Sherpur and Chuadanga borders.

The seizures were made in four operations, according to separate press releases issued by the BGB today. 

In Sylhet, patrol teams of Sylhet Battalion (48 BGB) seized Indian cumin, blankets, fruits, cosmetics, cattle, pan masala, betel nuts and a Bangladeshi engine-powered boat carrying illegally sourced sand and stone. The seized goods were valued at around Tk 29 lakh.

In Cox's Bazar, a patrol team of Ghumdhum Border Outpost under Cox's Bazar Battalion (34 BGB) recovered 10,000 Burmese yaba tablets from an abandoned spot at Ambagan Galachipa, about 400 metres inside Bangladesh from Border Pillar-32, on August 28. Legal proceedings are underway, the release said.

In Sherpur, patrol teams of Mymensingh Battalion (39 BGB) seized 705 bottles of Indian liquor worth Tk 10,57,500 in separate drives at Porabari in Nalitabari and Gurucharan Dudhnoi in Jhenaigati.

Meanwhile, patrol teams of Maheshpur Battalion (58 BGB) seized 47 bottles of Indian Eskuf syrup and 50 packets of pesticides worth Tk 43,800 in Jibannagar upazila of Chuadanga on August 28.

BGB said intelligence activities and anti-smuggling operations would continue to maintain border security and prevent drug trafficking and other illegal activities.
