DHAKA, Aug 28, 2026 (BSS) - The two-day programme marking the 50th death anniversary of National Poet Kazi Nazrul Islam concluded today at Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy (BSA) with a discussion and cultural events.

BSA Director General Poet Rezauddin Stalin delivered the welcome address at the concluding session held at the auditorium of the Academy's Centre for Music, Dance.

Meanwhile, 12 winners in three categories were awarded for a painting competition titled "Harmony and Independence" organised with the aim of promoting patriotism and the practice of values among the new generation held at the Nazrul Institute in Dhanmondi in the capital.

Swadhinata Cultural Parishad and Swadhinata Charushilpi Parishad organised the competition.

Ekushey Padak-winning artist Professor Jamal Ahmed inaugurated the competition.

The organisers said the main objective of the event was to convey the country's history, spirit of the Liberation War, heritage and non-communal values to the new generation through the creativity of children and teenagers. 

They expressed the belief that artistic practice would deepen children's love for the country and its people.

A total of 130 children participated in the competition. 

Convener of Swadhinata Charushilpi Parishad artist Ashraful Alam chaired the programme. 

Artist, poet, art critic and writer Zahid Mustafa and artist Sunil Kumar Malo served as judges.

Joint Convener Elbert Khan, Member Secretary S M Kamruzzaman Sagar and others were present.
