After losing both of his hands in a devastating electrical accident, he struggled to support his family and faced an uncertain future. Today, however, a new chapter has begun.
Through the personal initiative of Deputy Speaker of the Jatiya Sangsad Barrister Kayser Kamal a newly constructed home has been handed over to Amin and his family, offering them security, dignity and renewed hope.
The house was formally presented to the family on Saturday afternoon. For Amin, his wife and their three daughters, the home represents far more than a roof over their heads- it symbolizes stability after years of hardship.
A resident of Barakhapon Union under Kalmakanda Upazila, Amin had traveled to Dhaka in search of work and found employment at a private factory.
In 2021, tragedy struck when he suffered a severe electrical accident at his workplace. The injuries were so grave that both of his hands had to be amputated.
After spending nearly one year in treatment, Amin returned to his village permanently disabled and unable to eking. The family slipped into acute financial distress, relying largely on the limited support provided by his younger brother.
The story of Amin s struggle reached a wider audience on May 21 when journalist and content creator Abdur Rashid shared a video on social media highlighting the family s plight and appealing for assistance.
The video caught the attention of Barrister Qayser Kamal, who pledged to build a home for Amin. Within a short period, that promise became reality. Overwhelmed with emotion after receiving the house, Amin expressed his gratitude.
Today, my children have a safe place to live. I never imagined that someone would stand beside us in this way. I am sincerely grateful to the Deputy Speaker and to journalist Abdur Rashid, he said.
Local community leaders have praised the initiative as an example of how public representatives and journalists can work together to bring meaningful change to people s lives.
The house handover ceremony was attended by local dignitaries, journalists, community leaders and local people.
