KHULNA, April 11, 2026 (BSS) - Khulna City Corporation (KCC) Administrator Nazrul Islam Manju has urged authorities to ensure full coverage of the ongoing measles-rubella (MR) vaccination campaign to protect children's health.
He said the government remains committed to safeguarding children through regular immunization programmes conducted nationwide under the Expanded Programme on Immunization of the Directorate General of Health Services. However, a recent rise in measles cases has led to the launch of an emergency MR campaign.
Manju made the call while inaugurating a training workshop for health workers at the City Health Building in Khulna. He directed officials to carry out their responsibilities with sincerity so that no child is left out.
Officials said the MR vaccination drive in Khulna will run from April 20 to May 20, targeting children aged 6 to 59 months. Guardians have been urged to bring their children to nearby vaccination centres on working days.
The workshop was organized by KCC's health department with support from the Directorate General of Health Services. KCC Chief Executive Officer Rajib Ahmed presided over the programme.
Representatives from the World Health Organization and various NGOs also spoke at the event, stressing the importance of collective efforts to make the campaign successful.
